Rotary Switches

Multi-position rotary switches and selector switches for appliance, audio, medical, instrumentation and industrial equipment. Standard SR series models from stock, plus fully custom designs built to your drawing — with ODM tooling from 500 pieces and production in Huizhou, China.

Rotary Switch Configurations We Manufacture

  • Multi-position selector switches — 2 to 12 detent positions with positive click action, used for mode, range and function selection on control panels and equipment.
  • Single-pole and multi-pole types — ganged contact wafers for switching several circuits simultaneously from one shaft.
  • Short shaft and long shaft versions — shaft length matched to your panel thickness and knob or coupling interface, with a choice of plain round, D-cut (flatted), knurled or slotted profiles.
  • Panel mount with threaded bush — nut and washer fixing with an optional anti-rotation locating tab, or PCB-mount versions where the switch is soldered directly to the board.
  • Sealed and washdown versions — front-panel sealing for outdoor, marine and washdown equipment where moisture ingress must be controlled.
  • Custom detent feel and torque — rotational torque, detent angle and click feedback tuned to the operator requirement, so the switch feels consistent across the whole production batch.
  • Push switches — we also manufacture a complementary WDJ series of push switches, so mode selection and push actuation can be sourced together with consistent materials and finish.

ODM & Custom Development

  • Drawing or sample in, production part out — send a drawing, datasheet, photograph or physical sample and our engineers return a mechanical and electrical specification for approval.
  • Tooling and prototype stage — samples and pilot batches are supplied and approved before series tooling is committed.
  • Volume from 500 pieces — custom configurations are viable from 500 pieces per variant, which suits mid-volume industrial programmes as well as large production runs.
  • Consistent quality across batches — standardised production management, incoming material control and inspection at each stage, supported by a documented quality process.
  • Export experience — our team has supplied OEM and ODM customers in more than 30 countries, with production in Huizhou, Guangdong and Hong Kong registered company administration.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a rotary switch?
A rotary switch is an electromechanical component that selects between two or more circuit positions by rotating a shaft or knob. Internal contacts are arranged around the shaft, so each detent position connects a different set of terminals. Rotary switches are used wherever an operator or a machine needs to select an operating mode, a range, a channel or a function setting.
Can you manufacture a custom rotary switch to my specification?
Yes. We build rotary switches to customer specification, including the number of positions, number of poles and contact arrangements, shaft length and diameter, shaft shape, panel mounting method, terminal style, detent feel and rotational torque. Send us a drawing, a datasheet or a physical sample and our engineers will confirm a specification and quotation, normally within 2 working days.
What is the difference between a rotary switch and a potentiometer?
A potentiometer is a variable resistor that provides a continuous analogue output proportional to shaft angle. A rotary switch provides discrete on/off circuit selection between fixed positions with no analogue output. Both can share the same mechanical envelope, which is why customers often source them together from one supplier to keep panel dimensions and shaft interfaces consistent.
Which shaft and mounting options are available?
We supply rotary switches with plain round shafts, D-cut (flatted) shafts, knurled shafts and slotted shafts, in short and long shaft versions, with or without a locating flat. Mounting options include threaded bush with nut and washer, panel mount with locating tab, and PCB-mount versions. Shaft dimensions can be produced to your drawing.
What industries use your rotary switches?
Our rotary switches are used in home appliances, car audio and video equipment, dimming and lighting controls, medical devices, gaming equipment, test and measurement instruments, computer and peripheral equipment, and general industrial control panels. We support OEM and ODM customers worldwide from our Huizhou production facility.
What is the minimum order quantity for a custom rotary switch?
Our ODM programme starts from 500 pieces per configuration, which makes custom development viable for mid-volume industrial programmes as well as large production runs. Standard series models are also available in lower quantities for evaluation, and samples can be supplied before series tooling is committed.
Can you supply a drop-in replacement for a discontinued rotary switch?
Yes. Send us the datasheet, a drawing, a photograph or a physical sample of the discontinued part and our engineers will produce a mechanical and electrical cross-reference. We reproduce the mounting envelope, shaft dimensions, position count and switching arrangement so the part fits the existing assembly without redesign.

Need a Rotary Switch Specification or Sample?
